A quick note on how what you are consuming is directly effecting your mood.
(and things we can do to have happier days.)
December 2019
If you havn't heard already, the brain and gut are basically two sides of the same coin. You could argue for hours on which one influences the other more, but let's just jump to why it matters-
"Scientists have found that gut bacteria produce many other neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, acetylcholine, and GABA, which are critical for mood, anxiety, concentration, reward, and motivation. The gut microbiome can cause changes in how our brains react." -Marwa Azab Ph.D. / Neuroscience in Everyday Life
Sluggishness, boredom, continuously irritability and even depression- can all be improved upon with mindful improvements on our diet. Literally.
Major points:
-Try eating a table spoon of sauerkraut when you have an upset stomach or excess gas. (Bubblies has a great brand!)
-Limit fried foods. We them in oils rich in saturated and trans fats that aggravate the stomach/stomach lining, causing diarrhea, gas, and stomach pain. Fried foods promote the growth of harmful gut bacteria too.
-Avoid taking antibiotics when you can. They are too good at their job of stripping our body of bacteria, so they take away the good as well as the bad. Good bacteria aid in our over all ability to take in nutrients, as well as how well we fight off bad bacteria.
-Add a few pre-biotics to your diet. Leeks, onions, garlic, asparagus, whole wheat, spinach, beans, bananas, oats, and soybeans are a few of your everyday options!
It is important to note that out quality of sleep, amount of exercise and exposure to stress all alter our gut health as well. Keep a healthy balance of all three and your tummy will appreciate it.

This life wont come easy- either way.
February / 2020
Whew. I really had a rough week and it ended in an excruciating visit from Mother Nature. And although I’d love to delve into the everyday headaches of PA’ing at the studio, I think it’d be best to jump to the reminder it gave me on my drive home; life is’nt going to come easy either way.
If I choose to continue to chase my dreams and grow as an person/business owner, then it will not be rainbows and butterflies. While building new habits, there will be days when giving up in the moment and just dealing with the consequences later seems like the best thing to do. Physical fatigue will set in and it may be difficult to establish a healthy work/rest routine. Mental and emotional health will be taxed during the grind stages. That’s difficult.
If I choose a more tradition, safe route and get into a job that pays the bills, I know I’ll suffer in mental or emotional ways that will continue as long as I keep myself in that box. Days will always be long but unfulfilling and after some time, I won’t recognize myself as a creative. Plus I may lose that job for whatever reason. That’s difficult.
One of these results in a healthier, inspired, successful version of myself. (Also one that doesn’t have to work all year.)
One results in a perpetually depressing cycle that will probably sadden me to death (literally to death, considering how or emotions alter our immune/organ function- but that’ll be in my book :)
We have to choose our daily burdens with the future in mind or our future burdens will only worsen. Choose to work now, on yourself and your life’s vision. I know everyone reading this can think of some older people they know who just didn’t tap into all the potential they had. People who are so upset with life that their words and actions are often bitter and hateful. Make the choice to create the life you want and be happy in it, because even if you choose not to, life still won’t come easy.
My First Blog Entry
December / 2019
Never in a million years would have thought I’d come back to writing a blog. I started so many in my more... "dramatic" middle school days but kept forgetting my password, lol. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to voice at the time but I think I have a better idea now. This blog is where I will lay my truths, health/wellness information and some of my day to day shahagins to provide a journal for myself and a peak into life as I build this Juke Enterprises empire.
That being said.
It wasn’t until yesterday that I realized how much work needed to be done for me to launch this book and website by “new year.” It's definitely common for me to bite off what could be seen as "more than I can chew," but I'll just take a sip of juice and fork it down.
I’m just trying to be great… but I’’ve experience what getting up at 5AM can do for your day so I know this rolling out of bed at 10AM isn't going to cut it.
Tomorrow's a new day and I'll get back to it.
